    Who knows why?

    Maybe the owner found the right appraiser and lender, or hopes to. After all, if it’s legal then it’s OK, even if it’s unethical by most of our standards.

    Thanks, davelj. In which case, I have no contribution. If I liked a house as my future home for more than 5 years, I wouldn’t be worried about the appraisal.
