Nice Earthship house. How did they get George Bush to do the voice-over? π
I wonder if there are any cool prefabs.
Spoke to a builder today. He said what I wanted would run about $230 per sq. ft. not including land. That makes a 2800 sqft home around $600K. Dunno what a few acres in Coronado Hills would be. Then there is water and electrical, permits and plans… (he mentioned maybe $200 per sqft is possible).
…sigh
well, not giving up yet.

OxfordParticipantYep it is also called Timberframe.
I have yet to see such a house in so cal. It’s all Spanish “something”. Sure, I could live with that but I’ve done that for too long. I’ve heard a few war stories about building issues.
I wonder if ANYONE had a great experience in custom home building…
– architect makes plans – gets approvals
– builder/contractor prices
– bank loan goes through
– builder gets permits
– house built
– I move in, light incense and feel the breeze drifting up from the canyons. oooohhhhmmm…Isn’t that about how it goes? π

January 23, 2009 at 12:54 PM in reply to: Just divorced. Got to sell in LCV and buy somewhere. Any ideas? #334104OxfordParticipant
One last thing on SEH pricing. The 1400 sq ft townhomes in SEH are now selling around 300K (down from nearly 500K at peak). Investors are picking them up as they are cash flowing. Could something happen that will cause a cataclysmic shift in pricing…time for that crystal ball. Barring that, 2800 sq ft ocean view homes with lots of space around them for $300K would seem unlikely.
So…? are you implying that SEH with my desirables is near or about 6 months away from bottoming?
And could you recommend a second or third area choice since you kinda know my story and SEH seems to be the winner of the PP Thumbs Down Award?
Also… you pretty much nailed my LCV situation. Any way to contact you directly on this forum? I need an agent.
