Except the height of the oil spill is retrospective. How would you know that their last attempt to plug the hole is really the last attempt unless you look back from the future.
Ha Ha, reminds me – some places in the blogosphere
had the Earth’s crust fracturing because of that leak.outtamojo

Participant
Ok…Talking about U.S. markets this morning….
Dow is down almost 300 points at 6:35 am right now ….
buy buy buy buy buy buy buy…
It(almost) doesn’t matter what….
100 bucks says oil is going lower… No one seems to care about Libya anymore….
Opened up a small position in perennial loser LTBR,
a thorium play. Somebody’s bound to mention thorium as an alternative to uranium and the it’s gonna be a sell on the 3rd day spike.outtamojo

Participant

Good time to buy unless a lot of radiation leaks. If that happens all bets are off. BP was a great buy at the height of the oil spill crisis.
(I know nothing but) I’d agree with that. A total meltdown at a nuke plant would probably be followed by a pretty good meltdown of Japanese stocks. And then that might be a good time to buy.
I’m more worried about the people from the nuclear fallout at this point.
Yes, my heart goes out to the Japanese people. If any country can muster the sacrifice neccessary to get through this it is Japan. From what I’ve read, they are working together over there- not looting and pillaging their own countrymen. As for equities- whenever I see a decline this fast this far I think margin calls and forced selling and so best to wait a while imo and not be too eager until most of the news is out and a few hedge funds blow up should the news get worse.
