Participant
I like Trump… I don’t agree with everything he says… he’s crude, rude and crass. But I believe him when he says he is going to make good deals for our country… because he will have the best business people in the world making those deals… that he will bring jobs back to the US. He is not beholding to anyone, and I like that too. Say what you want, he is not a moron. A good economy, with people working good jobs, and a lot of our current problems go away,
Remember Bill Clinton… “It’s the economy, stupid” … duh… and he left with a balanced budget and an economy that was a lot better than it is today… after Bush and the Obama trashed it… You say Reagan set it up for Bill, ok, fine, no argument…It is the economy, stupid. Trump isn’t stupid.
Trump the businessman? Try googling Trump bankruptcies. Fortunate for him there was a government safety net.

Participant
I watched Trump’s interview over the weekend. He said had there not been Iraq we would not have had Obama. He’s right.
I’m liking Trump more. I like how he went after Bush at the debate and told him to be quiet. He’s also right on Korea, Syria, Libya.
Looked like he gained a few pounds.

Participant
…I am still debating whether to raise rents on my MM rentals. I have kept the rent the same for the last 5 years. I think the tenants know that they got a bargain. $1900 for a 4/2.
I just raised last year after not raising for a long time- I have good tenants and I don’t want to create the impression that I will raise EVERY year so I gotta keep the $$ signs on hold for now.

ParticipantOil is soaring. If I were a Saudi Prince I would buy tons of oil futures and them spread rumors of production cuts over and over.

It used to be that Americans were top dogs in the world, we did whatever we wanted because we could.
We still are the top dogs in terms of military, cultural, and economic might. But instead of being the top dog by a country mile, we’re now in a position closer to a plurality.
Obviously this isn’t post WWII when Europe was decimated, China was still mostly a nation of farmers and the US far and away was THE superpower, with the USSR a distant second. The US hugely benefited in the 50s and 60s from brain draining Germany and the Soviets. That period was so great for America in part because we were the top dogs by default, and in part because we could basically pick and choose anyone we wanted to join our team.
I’m disappointed that no one seems to want to “Make America Great Again” by investing in science and (non-military) technology. A commitment to public research, in part because of the Cold War, is part of why America was so great in the past. Now we just don’t seem to care as much about progress and growth.
Yeah who needs science when we’ve got reality tv and the khardashians and big butts that don’t need no explainin.

ParticipantAs Flu pointed out, learn to love the wrench if you decide to buy.I would spend a bit more and get a 2002 or 2003 530 as those are the last model years for e39 and most kinks, save for decent cupholders, have been worked out. There are tons of youtube videos on how to do maintenance – its actually not that hard on these models. I have owned one since new and my daily drives make all the maintenance work I put into it worthwhile, to me at least. I hate when I have to use the 2014 Accord.

Participant
Yes, learn to be strong.
The most ridiculous thing is when you hear women desperate to get married and be taken care of. Learn to be strong and take care of yourself.
My niece once pushed another girl whose mom complained to the principal. Kids dare each other. Kids should learn to deal with a little shove.
Hard to take care of yourself when an 8 pound baby splits you in two and you’ve got blood and afterbirth hangin’ all over you – hence the biological drive to look for someone to take care of you.

Sounds right; just over a week ago 224 died in a plane crash most likely caused by terrorism. No significant reaction.
Flight 17 shot down over Ukraine. No significant reaction.
Participant

Watch for signs this turns out to be a large enough conflict to affect world economy
It’ll be interesting to see what kind of rage putin will unleash in response to the downed plane in egypt. I agree that us humans are stupid. We just can’t leave good enough alone.
Putin I can see putting boots on the ground but will an enraged France just mean more missile strikes and drone attacks?

ParticipantWatch for signs this turns out to be a large enough conflict to affect world economy- if so Fed may take rate hike off table. Off table rate hike to me means
gold stocks and gold etfs. Gold has dropped enough to take a flier on anyway imho as rate hike may be mostly priced in so if rate hike is off table, things like NUGT could rocket. Then again, if euro dies and dollar gets even stronger… -
