Participant
One of the things that’s good about this site – there’s diversity of neighborhoods.
We’ve got some downtown folks. A few east county folks. BG brings the south county and Chula Vista perspective. Some very active north county coastal types, some 15 corridor types, some Temecula/murrietta types… Clairemont is well represented, as is my hood – UC (at least two other regular posters live in my hood.)
There are pros and cons to every neighborhood.
Rather than getting into a pissing match over which is the BESTEST EVAH!!! Why not have rational discussions about the pros and cons of the areas that each of us has familiarity with… when it’s appropriate.
The OP specifically asked about certain communities in the NCC and 56 corridor. It’s appropriate to give him/her info to address his/her questions.
We’ve heard the arguments ad naseum from several parties:
* chula vista has big lots and fewer mello roos.
* North county coastal is exceptional and all the buyers can pay cash for their properties – at least sdr’s clients can.
* 4S is where premier folks move.
* UC is Lake Wobegon- all the kids are above average. (Sorry – had to joke about my hood, too.)
* and of course Santee is only 10 minutes from the beach. LOL.Rather than fighting with each other… how about we answer the questions originally asked. It seems like a few folks did, then it got hijacked into a giant childish fight.
C’mon folks. My 8 year old and 10 year old (sometimes) show more ability to just walk away rather than squabble. (Ok – not really – but this thread reminds me of their bickering.)
UCGal, the funny thing is 4S isn’t even my hood. nor did I mention it IS the premier place for upper income professionals. I merely tried to defend it and next thing you know we are looking at WWIII.
you and everyone else know I don’t typically let overbearing trolls continue nonsensical discussions. I walked away from prior discussions with OBG in the past.
But the pattern of behavior is clear and evident. everytime someone new on the board brings up a community within the 56 corridor, ie their desire to move there, here comes OBG going full force to try to get them to see that they can go to south county and buy a property on 2 acres with clear views of the carnage that is TJ. it has happened countless times and frankly I just got really sick of it.
of course in retrospect, what a complete and total waste of time.
at the very least sdr was a worthy adversary. and PS althought a little on the nutty side was brilliant in many areas. I can say nothing good about OBG at all, and I think her latest post really speaks volumns to that.

Participant
What is up with you two and the pissing contest over neighborhoods? You’ve both proven that one won’t convince the other, can we move on? Or at least move this debate to PMs? I don’t see how this adds to this discussion thread. (I am guilty of it too but I usually give up after the first or second round.)
ParticipantI already mentioned the 56 corridor at an earlier tread regarding Camino Del Sur (which was hijacked into a 4S is part of city of SD debate by OGB).
I mentioned the broad 56/Ted Williams belt way encompass the following zips: (92064, 92127, 92128, 92129, 92130, 92131). OBG, at the time you already professed you are unfamiliar with the area.
you then pull out a list of alternatives to the 56 corridor that include 5 areas within the above zipcodes, including 2 that actually straddle the 56.
and then you state I misunderstood you.
You originally asked me why the 56 corridor is a draw for professionals, I gave you the list of reasons. I think that is good enough.
I do not need to engage in a debate about why Clairemont and Pacific Beach and Tierrasanta are NOT even close when matched with the communities surrounding the 56 belt.
If you have been to these places yourself, it would be self evident. And yes I have been to every single one of these communities. But you have not. To you these are far flung outposts that you are unfamiliar with.
So once again I ask you, why keep debating and arguing about an area you know nothing about?
And once again I ask myself, why am I wasting my time?

Participant
Has anyone priced out the cost of a solar pool heating system?
I think they typically run about $5k.
would really consider an automatic pool cover instead. it is pricier, we got ours for $8k. Well hidden since we built it at the time of the pool construction. They do have ones they can install onto existing pools but do not look as clean.
It traps heat well and cut way down on evaporation. our pool has been at 81-83 over the last few days with just the pool cover.
with a pool cover, a pool vacuum, and a salt system, we don’t have any maintenance worries at all.
