Participant
Great video for those thinking about moving to Nicaragua or any second or third world country. Excellent points to consider:

very good video. the guy is right on when he ventured into social classes and differentiating between how the locals live and how you live. just remember this: these guys live in abject proverty all of their lives, but have access to plenty of dubbed American TV and movies. They all have preconceived stereotype of what you are made of, which is money, and plenty of it. all of your transactions and encounters with the locals will begin with that in their head. not a good way to live IMHO.

Participantthe fair is a great way to see the cross section of ppl in San Diego. our social circle generally run tight with like minded folks that are our peers in occupation and social status. the fair forces us to break out of that circle and experience the public at large.
unfortunately, the picture isn’t pretty. I knew obesity is an epidemic. but the degree of which that is truly out there out in the general public at large is unreal. I know for most piggs it is quite unpleasant. but every year you should make it a point to go out there just to see what the rest of San Diego look like.

Participant

But you know what that neighborhood could use somewhere in that 6 mile hike is a convenient store and gas station. But cant think of anywhere to put it.
Good point BHD…I have thought that same thing for some time. The empty lot that claims to have a park “coming soon” (right off Stonebridge Parkway about a mile from Pomerado) would be an ideal place for a gas station, 7/11, or am/pm type of thing. There is already a great park in Stonebridge, so I don’t really see the need for another one, nor do I see it being built anytime soon either. Anyone have any info on that lot, know when/if they are going to actually put in another park?
personal opinion, but I think most folks in stonebridge would not go for a 7/11 or am/pm there. the snob factor would not allow for that. what will end up there would be some high end stuff or dry cleaner that charges too much. much like the about-to-fail businesses and the empty store fronts at the entry to cielo.

Participant
It’s in a really good neighborhood, there is not a lot available there, and many dual-income professional types want to live in that area. $625K is a good deal for the square footage, location, and current market. I agree it is funny looking with the 3-car garage, but there are a lot of funny looking houses in SD. Doesn’t mean people won’t still pay to live in them if they check off all the important boxes, especially location. Yeah you can get cheaper $/sf in other areas, but IMO that is a prime location in South Carlsbad.
Never said it wasn’t a good area. IMHO it isn’t worth the price. Especially with the lack of upgrades and the style of the home. In this market you look for areas of weakness that have great potential in the future. That’s how you take advantage of the market and score a good deal. Anyone can give an extremely narrow criteria on their housing search. We all know what the end result will be.
