ParticipantI have friends who drive all kinds of cars, including the big ones. The reason I don’t like huge vehicles is because the drivers feel overly confident in them and tend to tailgate or use less caution when they feel protected by their 5 tons of metal. I also don’t like them because they block the view, you can’t see around them or over them. For me it has nothing to do with gas consumption. Also, they just plain take up too much space (on the road, in the parking lot, wherever). If you’ve ever traveled you’d know why there is such an auto trade deficit: our vehicles don’t fit on foreign roads.
I must admit that it’s good to have friends with trucks, so I can hit them up when I need some junk hauled!!! ;D

ParticipantWow great articles.
I travel a lot and have seen first-hand how behind the times things are in America. I don’t think it’s due to lack of American willingness to pioneer the future, but rather it is due to American’s lack of planning for it. They vote for the wrong reasons and choose immediate gratification instead of long-term solutions to societal issues. Politicians play on this and have been slowly whittling away at the things which made our nation great.

ParticipantYes in the recording studio they were joking around about moving to London together. Then he said “I’m serious” and she said “can I bring me mudder”? and he got this worried look on his face then they changed the subject… It said something without saying anything (a sign of great story telling, without the need to dumb it down for the average audience).

ParticipantThanks dharmagirl I’ll check out the interview when I have a moment.
Yes, the fact that the girl was 17 and not an actress (from what I hear) was amazing. Then again, it’s easy to make a young person look older with the right makeup and clothing (they always had her hair flat, and had her wearing very conservative, mom-like clothes).
In the end I think that although the main character was madly in love with “Guy”, she didn’t hook up with him because she thought he had a really bright future in music and felt she would bring him down what with her mom and kid and hubby in the picture. So she let him go. Took one for the team!
