ParticipantOMG what is going on over here?
Sadly I agree with the post that Obama is simply doing at it takes to get elected. Blame the voters for this. He HAS to appeal to the most voters and probably has a team of people telling him on a daily basis what stance to take.

White people (and other races) are going to feel more comfortable voting for a black man who has taken a stand against the unsavory aspects of the black community.

Nostradamus made a statement about Obama distancing himself from the “unsavory” behavior of blacks.
Those two statements are quite different. It is very clear that she is so biased she’ll go as far as twisting my words to make sure I appear to be what she thinks I am.
I agree that bias exists everywhere and to deny it is foolish. Look at marion, for example: she feels the need to point out that she’s a black woman which seems to entitle her to be offended (like white people aren’t allowed to be offended or something). I don’t see many other posters here pointing out their race, gender, ethnicity, whatever. “I’m of X ethnicity therefore I’m offended” absolutely is using “the race card” by definition.
About the nefarious N-word: if quoting someone else who was mimicking what a southern, white racist might say is offensive, the offended party is being emotional and not logical. Being automatically offended by a word regardless of the context gives that word more power. I’m sure there are plenty of racists out there who are very happy to know there is such a powerful word they can use to auto-offend the subjects of their hatred.
These people seem perfectly capable of discussing the word without offense. I was surprised to hear about Martin Luther King’s use of the word. This is the type of discussion I was looking for, I’m not baiting anyone and I really don’t like reading or replying to marion (yes this is bias) so why would I bait her?
My original intention is to point out and discuss the fact that Obama distancing himself from Jesse Jackson, Rev. Wright, et. al. is, IMO, good for the Obama campaign in that it will surely get him more white votes. Since whites are the majority in this country (even more so in voter turnout) then this is a smart strategy. Now… discuss!
