ParticipantCuriouser and curiouser not so much, more like seedy love quadrangle.
30000 pages of emails? holy bat sh*t.
FBI leaping to investigation on a marginally harrassing email.
Shirtless FBI agentsGood to know the FBI is running on a who you know basis and the military commanders have time for 30,000 pages of personal emails.

ParticipantI don’t see interest rates moving lower. The question is which of the bond funds will best handle flat or rising interest rates.

ParticipantWell, at least they temporarily seem rational.

Participant5.29% post tax is starting to look pretty good. It’ll look better if Obama succeeds in getting the Republicans to roll back investment income tax rates to be treated like regular income.

ParticipantWoohoo!

Participant
Probably some wealth erosion due to inflation. Then again, there are ways to defend against that, like by buying property where appropriate and at a good cap rate.
As far as outright confiscation, I heard that line in the 90ies under Clinton. Didn’t happen then, won’t likely happen now.
It’ll be wealth transfer via slight of hand.
AKA, Prop 39: $1 billion in “new” tax revenue, $1/2 Billion earmarked for ‘green’ energy, which is what the hedge fund manager that bankrolled it invests in.

Social Security – socialist program.
VA medical coverage – socialist program.
Public Education – socialist program.
50 Years of defense spending – socialist program. It’s not a question of are we socialist or not, it’s just a matter of degree.

Participant
$275k less 50% for taxes = $137.5k/yr = $11.5k/mo
$11.5k/mo – $3k (loan) – $6k (back tax) = $2.5k/mo
Looks a bit less good, no?
OMG, he needs a pay raise!

Participant

LOL, so you’re saying Government jobs pay 40% more in the bay area than here.
I’m saying most of them did the four bay-area counties we checked in the ’90’s which qualified population-wise.
You don’t think you should look at more than Government jobs?November 12, 2012 at 1:17 PM in reply to: Making $275K as a dentist, $400K owed in Federal Student Loans, $120K behind on Taxes #754494no_such_reality
ParticipantAstute he isn’t.
The article is just one OMG after another for financial incompetence.
But hey, good to know the Dentist that couldn’t make $15K in private practice can pull in $275K working for the prisons.

And I think NSR pointed this out. A few days after prop 30 passed, CSU prez says they are given students the option to graduate earlier/on time if they pay additional “fees”…
Yea, that was me. It was also me that pointed out, that our spending per capita is at all time highs even when adjusted for inflation.
It’s just going who knows where. It’s all special funds and earmarks, and strings attached. But over-all, we’re spending more than ever, per person in the State, but less then ever on the things many consider important.
Sadly, too many think those opposing taxes are opposing taxes for taxes sake and missing the basic question of ‘where is the money going’.
