What happens if I originally borrowed $500k, and then things fall apart, and the bank says “Hey, you only owe us $400k.”
Does that show up on my credit?

Various relatives of mine have lived in San Clemente since 1970 so I have watched the place grow and change.
On the plus side, Del Mar — the street that runs down to the pier — has some interesting stores and restaurants. I love the pier and there are new walkways along the oceanfront.
The climate is also very good.
I think that living in Talega would mean being a hostage to the 5, and the traffic can be bad northbound. You can of course take the toll road to Fashion Island. I was in San Clemente this weekend, and the weather was superb and the traffic intense.
Of course, tell me a place on Southern Cal where the traffic isn’t that way…
