Thanks all,
I will make some trips out to Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio in the future to visit places and look at new construction homes in the area. Dallas has the most businesses and Austin based on what I hear is the most hip town. Now my question: which city has best blend of single nightlife, low crime rate and good quality of life. I know that traffic sucks in Dallas due to the “Mixmaster” traffic jams but since I would either work out of home or be at the airport to catch a flight to a client it would not be that bad of an issue to me. I like Colorado but snow is not much fun in winter and Denver/Boulder are more expensive than Texas.

mixxalotParticipantHaha I got a good chuckle out of this one.
Better bet- for a single guy like myself, save up for a trip to Brazil next year during Carnaval. That would be more fun and easier on the finances and less risk.

I agree with you SD Realtor. Between that dipwad Chowderhead and his little bed buddy Aram retard with his suicide loan scam business and those annoying commercials on KOGO for Aragon townhomes in La Mesa I get ticked myself. Heck the only reason I even listen to KOGO is for Coast to Coast show at night, Matt Drudge and Ray Luccia on weekends. Its pretty lame that KOGO keeps this chump on the radio.

While my buddy and I want to eventually be home owners here in San Diego, we are patient and working on a down payment plan.
I am in no rush- as I have 18 months to think about it and watch the market. If the market drops enough then I will buy a modest place here in San Diego. If not, then I guess I will move to another state and town that is affordable so that I am not throwing my cash away on rent forever. While Dallas, Austin and San Antonio do not have the perfect weather nor beaches, they are nice towns with friendly people plenty of good jobs in technology and business and affordable home prices. I want a place to live in so that I can finish my MBA program and move up at work into management.

is that you have to walk up a flight or two of stairs from the garage to the main living area. That and the spacing between condos is tough to navigate from the driveway into each garage. Bad design in my view. That and a substation next door is not that great. I would pay 150-200k for these condos but not the ridiculous 390-450k they are asking for them.
Texas is dirt cheap. I am thinking of buying a place in couple years since I travel for work and would rather own a nice home then keep renting or pay too much for a condo in San Diego.
