Whats so bad about Texas?
I was in Dallas in May and was fine place to me. People are way friendlier than in San Diego. Much cheaper to live and good food. We spend most time indoors unless you are filthy rich and can be at the beach allday or live in Rancho Santa Fe. Or are a pro surfer.
mixxalotParticipantMy dad’s old boss was the mellow low key wealthy guy next door who was actually humble. He drove an old Cadillac and lived in a modest home. He used to have a Rolls Royce and did not like the attention so he sold it and kept the old Cadillac.
mixxalotParticipantGreenspan the anti-American
I heard some of the response he have on 60 minutes last night. This guy is EVIL. When questioned about what he invests in- he refused to give a real answer and not to back the US dollar. That proves he is a criminal and knew what was going on. I hope this guy rots in hades for what he has caused. Then again the FED is evil system of corrupt world bankers.
mixxalotParticipantSF and NYC have decent mass transit
Alas here in Southern California it is still pretty weak and not viable option for most people. What if I meet a lady in Mira Mesa or Del Mar for happy hour and tell her I had to take the bus? Dont think that would score any points.
I am for a real mass transit system but still has not caught on yet with most city planners. The city government would rather waste money on a stupid new sports stadium ie) petco park than invest in mass transit across the county.
mixxalotParticipantIts called the river of Denial
That these greedy sellers will not lower the prices on the overpriced shacks.
mixxalotParticipantSan Diego has lousy mass transit system
The problem with California except for SF bay area is that everything is so spread out that to get anywhere via public transit it a chore at best and nigh impossible. What if I need to get from downtown to Mira Mesa at 9pm? I dont want to spend 3 hours each way.
mixxalotParticipantThats because its in Victorville=BFE no mans land
Who the heck wants to live in the middle of nowhere land?
mixxalotParticipantGimmicks will not sell homes now
Once the real crap hits the fan the downturn will accelerate and stupid gimmicks like used car sales tactics will fail to sell homes unless prices drop.
mixxalotParticipantWaste and excess consumption will be the failure of the USA
I live in a tiny 600 square foot apartment and would love a 1500 square foot home. That would be plenty big enough. I dont want to hire a maid or spend all day cleaning a McMansion.
mixxalotParticipantDrops in UTC condos
I like the convience of the UTC area. Hoping that condos drop a lot more and would consider a 2 bedroom condo in Lucera once they drop to 200k.
mixxalotParticipantthey are probably a bunch of crackheads
Judging by how these dumps appear I would not be surprised.
mixxalotParticipantI agree that San Diego especially coastal areas like Encinitas and Del Mar are superior places to living than Dallas BUT the boring dead armpit drug ridden Inland Empire is not better place to live than a world class city such as Dallas or Houston. There actually is a lot more to do in these cities than Hemet or Perris. And a lot cheaper for new construction.
Anyways I am on the side lines next couple years to see what happens here in San Diego. My hope is that things will really tank and accelerate down major crash like 1997. It really takes a crash before prices become normal and affordable again for most people. I think that 400k is a tad high for a nice condo. Even in a coastal area.I was looking at Miami and its even less than coastal San Diego. Amazing.
mixxalotParticipantTexas not that bad
There are more jobs in Dallas area than in the Inland Empire and weather not much different. I think its plain stupid that people commute 2 hours from Inland Empire to San Diego just to own a home.
mixxalotParticipantI am in same boat
Looking at new Lennar construction homes in Texas cost a fraction of what San Diego even the “armpit” Inland Empire cost gets me convinced to move within 2 years if prices do not drop enough.
