My fear is not ill founded- with OPEC, Iran, and Venezuela supporting the euro it will cause an eventual collapse of the dollar and rise of the amero as the global elite want.
When gas is $9 a gallon then you can bet it will cause pain.

At least thats my strategy to save up big down payment and buy a nice 2-3 bedroom condo or townhome. I dont want the headache of a McMansion to deal with cleaning. I use the simple formula that when it is cheaper or same to buy and own as to rent then that is the right time in socal and sandy eggo.
For now I have zero debt and plenty of savings. Job stability is the magic quadrant for me right now.
At worst case, if I save half a million, I can always retire on the beaches of Ipanema with a mojito and pretty Brazilian babe.

Maybe 250k would be decent income with overpriced housing costs. Now in the midwest 100k is decent. I am doing contract work but notice companies in San Diego are STINGY CHEAP with salaries considering high cost to live here.
Jobs in IT pay WAY more in NYC and San Francisco and cost of living is almost same unless you live in Manhatten and you dont need a car.
