ParticipantState and Federal Government workers and waste
I have seen a mixed bag- since I have done contract work a lot with both federal, state and private companies. I see folks who slack off in both govt and private. Waste in both. The benefits are better in govt jobs. Security is a lot better. Pay not bad if you are in high enough level. I am looking into a federal job in technology as many will soon retire and a pension would be nice to have besides just 401k and social security when I retire.

ParticipantGold Shop in La Jolla
Are they located in PB on Garnet? I am thinking of getting some gold coins for a birthday present to myself this year.
Maybe a few kruggerands, a few maple leafs, a panda or two and a few American eagles to add to my collection. I already have a few hundred Morgan Silver dollars that I bought a long time ago. One advantage of gold over silver is portable. A very large sum can be carried easily with gold that requires a lot more silver. I think for most daily purchases, silver dollars are divine. For long term savings and purchases, gold rules supreme. Like imagine if gold went to 2000 an ounce. It would take only a basket to buy a new home π and a handful to buy a new car or small boat.
But I am not sure if gold will jump that high so far it looks to be doing exactly that however. With Bernanke’s FED speech it jumped to almost $900 today.

ParticipantProof of economic meltdown
Thanks all for the tips. I may just buy precious metal index funds for my IRA and such to hedge bets against the falling US dollar. My international funds are doing very well. Yeah its funny how the massive banks no longer sell gold.
That concerns me.
