"Seriously – I'm not against religion – people can believe anything they want – I'm against people not keeping it to themselves (They are starting to scare me). As it happens I don't profess that Harry Potter is god, but if I did I would keep it to myself. "
They are scaring me too. I know many a family that will not even allow their children to read Harry Potter because of the 'dark element' within. The Devil is somehow lurking between those pages and going to turn their children into monsters. Seems like a control issue.
For those always asking that the topics stay on RE – I think you might have learned from being around here so long that the topics are inseperable. Likewise, one cannot comment on the Tulip bubble without discussing the social issues surrounding and augmenting it, and the social issues which sped up and accompanied the crash afterwards.

lostkittyParticipantI knew it was ‘feigned’. I just dont appreciate it when you put words into my mouth that I did not utter (or write … in this situation).
Wakarimashita, Japanese.

I just met a girl (well, I guess we are women at almost 40yrs old now) the other day at my kids’ little school (public). She is a lung doctor and also raised in beautiful San Diego. Husband also has a fantastic job. No shortage of income or cash, but they felt they were priced out of CA – and left.
As cyphire says – the prices for small 3 bedrooms in places like DelMar, where people like this would want to live, are not realistic. It is not a matter of not being able to afford 1.5m for some people … it is the fact that WHAT YOU GET FOR 1.5M IS NOT WORTH IT.
So I am of the camp that there are very few 1st time buyers out there with any hope of buying in at even $400k, and of the few that do have cash, they will find what is available at that price unappealing.

lostkittyParticipantI did not call you a cockroach. I said it seems that the extreme religious right – like jg – are multiplying ‘like cockroaches’ (do).
Wakarimashita?

He was mainline too, so you know the deal then. Work rules got to be ridiculous, pay slashed and then slashed again at his airline to the tune of -44% in less than 2 years. YEEOWWCH! I was whining a lot. He wasnt happy. Bad situation all around.
Things are much better now, and he still gets to travel (going to Paris next week!).
We lost our flight “benefit”, but who cares, i could almost never get all five of us on a flight seated together. My kids have fallen asleep on strangers all across this country and over the Pacific a few times…
Yes, the airline gig is no longer what it used to be…

lostkittyParticipantPD – Yes it is, but luckily he had gone to TPS as a Navy pilot and had other skills in his pocket. New job is interesting and challenging. Much better than driving a bus (in the sky) and leaving the family every few days. Pay is better too (thankfully).

lostkittyParticipantI guess my point was that I dont think there are as many out-of-state “wealthy” buyers as we think.
I think there were many ‘speculators’ – who are now leaving before it is too late.
