ParticipantKatrina Cottages from Lowe’s.
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=pg&p=2006_landing/Katrina_Cottage/floor-plans.html
FAQ:
http://www.lowes.com/lowes2/2006_landing/Katrina_Cottage/KatrinaCottageFAQ.htmlEverything your ‘contractor’ needs to build it (excluding the usual foundation, water, sewer, landscaping, blah, blah) in one nice bundle. Upgrades available if you feel the need.
I’ve seen a few built as demos. Surprisingly nice, I’m seriously considering KC1112 or KC1185 if we buy a small piece of land up in the hills we are looking at. Maybe not right away but after 2011.

ParticipantI think overall sales will be higher than some might think. Maybe not back to crazy level because the big ticket items will be fewer and far between.
However I think ‘recession fatigue’ has set in a bit and the primordial urge to shop is too strong to deny again this year.
I’d expect what purchases are made to be more durable useful items like shoes, clothes for work/school (vs pure fashion), tools, things that people need. Probably fewer ‘trendy’ gifts.
Disclaimer: If I really knew what the unwashed masses were going to do, I’d have invested better to take advantage of that knowledge and be retired by now.

ParticipantI’ve toured the Biltmore House in Asheville NC. They claim 250 rooms (although the tour doesn’t even begin to cover the entire house). They still claim to be the largest privately owned house in the U.S.
Soooo figure 10 minutes per room/moving between rooms and you are looking at 2500 minutes. Or 41.6667 hours. Close to two days assuming no sleep but a few snack/bathroom breaks.
Hell I wonder if the Spellings ever got lost? I’d need a friggen map just to find them all.
Ever wonder if they wandered into a section of the house every so often and go “Gee, I don’t remember this room” or “Gosh, it’s been ages since I’ve been in here”?
