Participant
I have been wrong the last 20 months by parking half of my $ on the side. I doubled down this month by going 100% cash. I think that pretty much guaranteed a crash won’t happen anytime soon based on my track record…..but if one is to happen between now and end of the year, I’ll be ready.
Maybe today???
I did the same a year ago.

Participant
Trump is doing so well.
He speaks what Republicans think but were afraid to voice.http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/18/politics/donald-trump-presidential-poll-debate/%5B/quote%5D
You can probably through in a shockingly high percentage of Democrats as well.

I so very much want this to be true
http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/ed-klein-bill-clinton-hillary-clinton-donald-trump/2015/08/09/id/669253/%5B/quote%5DWhether or not Bill Clinton had the foresight to see what Trump would do to the Republicans, you have to admit that this is huge plus for Hillary. The more disarray there is in Republican ranks, the more the candidates must move to the right to gain the support of the conservative base. That allows Hillary to move to the center which makes her position that much stronger.
And at this point the Republicans have a very difficult position. It’s unlikely that Donald Trump will drop from the race gracefully, which means he either gets the nomination or splits the party. Either case is a big win for the Democrats.
I don’t see the big win you see. The Clinton’s will under estimate Trump just like the Republicans did.

For himself? or for the RNC?
[Cynically]… If the RNC (and DNC for that matter) were that smart, they would just find/groom better candidates. Instead, they just slap more lipstick on their flim-flam politcal pigs, drink a few more double lattes and start believing there own bull shit.

ParticipantUrbanrealtor, a little bit of both.

ParticipantHis debate numbers are so strong, he just might be able to run as a 3rd party candidate and win.
How can he get himself invited to the Democratic debate? I imagine he would pull just as well with democrats and mop up the stage with those candidates as well.
That’s how fed up voters are with the lame choices they have in each party.

ParticipantI rented a townhouse at the beach in La Jolla 10 years back and was at my wits end over some loud 24/7 party animals that rented across the street… I’m talking all night and still going at it when I left for work in the morning.
One of the neighbors got the landlords home phone number and passed it out. I called it in the middle of the night and told the landlord I wanted them to have a shitty nights sleep like the rest of the neighborhood. They stopped picking up after a couple of nights, but the renters were gone in less than 30 days.
Might be a good strategy to get the landlord to put some soundproofing in the floor.

ParticipantTip for all.
After a having a house keeper slowly steal from us over a six month period, I came up with a security strategy. I have anyone that works in our house sign a simple release that they are aware that all areas of our house, interior and exterior are recoded on video. Nanny, house cleaner, landscapers, contractors, etc.
I’m in the process of upgrading my entire security system, so really appreciate that this post popped up again. I hate that I want cameras on every inch of my property. But way too much crime happening out there.

ParticipantHurn Mechanical is just finishing my installation now. I 2nd the recommendation. Completely new system and new duct work.

ParticipantSince you are going to take on the finish work, I assume you have some knowledge to maybe just hire a framer by the hour and save some decent money. Do you have footings to beef up or just framing?
I have a good framer right now on my project that may be available in a few weeks.
Just a thought.
What did your plans and engineering cost you?

ParticipantI need a 1M term policy and turning 50 soon. Does anyone know if it true that prescription controlled blood pressure is not a hit on the premium? That’s what I have heard, but haven’t checked it. Any specific companies???
Was ok with self insured until the great recession but my income and assets are still down 50%. Plus had a kid in my late 40s.
FYI, fortunately and unfortunately my dads policy put me through the second half of college. I remember when he converted to term when I was about a sophomore in high school. AL Williams was the company.

ParticipantPaying cash at the dealership for my last couple cars felt good. (But maybe should have put the money in the market and taken the .9% financing. I probably could have owned the cars for free.)
Net worth of 1M felt good. Unfortunately, it ain’t what it use to be. (not including primary residence equity for the net worth sticklers out there)

ParticipantEverything inside. Recessing beam through whole house on first floor. New layout. All baths, kitchen, floors, repipe, electrical. Adding AC. Almost down to the studs.
