ParticipantMy point is you feel safer in a SUV as you call it, but in MANY MANY situations you are not safer, regardless of who is at fault.
This is simply not true.
What does MANY MANY mean?
Are you one of MANY MANY people that still believes Al Gore invented the internet?
Except for a few fluke circumstances, apples to apples, you are safer in an SUV. If you don’t believe this then get out your kids physics book tonight while you are enjoying your favorite beverage (kool-aid) and start reading.

ParticipantHere is my unscientific study…
I drive a new suv (paid cash) and use every inch of it, put about 10k miles a year on it, am very calculating about running errands and making useless trips, am a republican and a member of the surfrider foundation. I am not motivated by the cost savings as much as being as green as I can be. I wash it at the drive though car wash because the water is recycled and doesn’t drain into the storm drain and run off into our beaches.
My neighbor, drives a small car, thinks he is a do gooder for it, likes to give me shit about gas prices, thinks nothing of driving to get a coke at ampm when the mood strikes or a starsucks etc. His commute is less than mine yet drives about 17k miles a year. Likes to wash his car himself in the driveway using tire cleaner and way too much soap. When I point out were the water and chemicals go, he says he will stop washing his car himself when I sell my SUV.
My other neighbor is lucky to be alive after he was hit broadside by a truck that ran a red light. Thank god for he was in an suv. I won’t mention the nationality of the truck driver, only that he was uninsured.
My other neighbors, have a prius and an old camary, they are the nicest people I know, and are republicans.

ParticipantIt seems fair that the bank wants to make it painful for homeowners to walk away. Personally, I hope your friend’s credit takes a beating. I certainly don’t want the “walkawayers” back in the buying pool until I make my purchase and pick up some nice investment property. I don’t want them to be able to compete with my perfect credit.
If I were in their shoes, I certainly wouldn’t expect to get away for free.
