Having fun yet?
uh oh…
kewpParticipantI wouldn’t exactly call a country with +$179,100,000,000 “third world”. Meanwhile, US is $ -862,300,000,000 …..
Isn’t it amazing what can be accomplished when most of your billion+ population is working 80 hours a week in sweat shops to produce consumer goods for Western consumption!

kewpParticipantI think once people realize what a sh!tstorm this is they will just be tossing the keys to the bank and walking. Bad credit is better than indentured servitude, IMHO.
I guess the question will be, who will be left with enough cash and good credit to pick up the pieces?

kewpParticipantWhat we really need is an influx of foreign banks with foreign money to create a new breed of toxic loans if we wanna save this pig!

kewpParticipantWhy hire a 100k a year U.S. College grad when you can hire a 40K a year hungry imported one.
Because there are a ton of 40k a year, hungry domestic ones available?
I really, really think the 100k+ job market is much smaller than many people here make it out to be.

kewpParticipanti dunno. i’d like to think of human knowledge as being the sum of pie in the sky projects. otherwise, we’d all still be digging for grubs and picking wild berries.
Exactly. Every technical innovation starts as a ‘pie in the sky’ project. Doesn’t mean every pie is going to turn out as a billion-dollar idea, though!

kewpParticipanttwo. this housing slump is different from the last one, because in the early nineties, there were vast undevelopped lands in camel valley, on the corridor of now 56 higher way (4S, Del sur, torrey hills etc.). But this time what’s left there?
I’ll agree that its different this time. Given that this run-up has been ten years in the making AND since the tech bust has been feeding on itself, I’ll suggest the grand unwinding will be apocalyptic.
As for whats left, next time you are downtown after dark, take a look at all the condo towers with dark windows. Those aren’t all second residences for globe-hopping playboys. Nevermind the thousands of units already in the pipeline…

kewpParticipant33, single, 70k. No degree, but great resume and very smart (cough, cough). Looking to tack on a few certs and maybe hit the 100K+ range.
Being financially responsible finally, should be debt-free by end of 2009. Not sure if thats something to be proud of! :/
As I’ve pointed out elsewhere, what really matters is to check out the median income. I thought I was a pauper until I realized many of the folks I had assumed were doing much better than I was were just racking up mountains of debt.
