You have every right to live whatever frugal, self-sustaining, (hermit in the forest) lifestyle you want. But if you want something from someone you have to either barter for it, pay for it, or convince them to give it to you for free.(former)FormerSanDiegan

What you failed to mention is that per the Case-Shiller index homes under $475k have fallen 7.2% from their peak; homes $475-$676k have fallen 12.3%, and homes over $676k have fallen 16.4% and there is no signs of stopping.
It’s the homes under 475K have declined 16.4%.
