DuranimalParticipant
I don’t necessarily disagree, but I just think it’s interesting that some zip codes require more of a down payment than others. Seems like this is something new in the market that could have pretty big ramifications. Would seem to force prices even further down in the designated zip codes.

DuranimalParticipantI don’t think so because it would seem to me that lenders could get in trouble for “redlining” – refusing to make loans in undesirable neighborhoods.
I was told that the lender uses an independent third party who makes the designations.

DuranimalParticipantAlthough I’m sure there are other zip codes that are also considered distressed, I’m not being asked to put down at least 15% in the other neighborhoods I’m considering – just North Park.

DuranimalParticipantI’m more concerned about RedFin’s assistance at closing than its website, so if you’ve had good or bad experiences there, I would love to hear them.
However, I am curious why a seller’s agent wouldn’t want to show a home. Especially in this market, it seems like they would do everything they could to facilitate a sale.
