There is a lot of hate with HOA’s, but if you aren’t really into doing stuff to your house, sometimes the HOA is the best thing. No cars lifted up on jacks in the street, no cars parked on the front lawn, god awful ugly color houses, etc etc etc…
In southern CA, in most places, I doubt mixed races will get much of a second look here. Of course, parents may say or have thoughts about it, but I doubt random people in the area here care much since it’s everywhere.
Being Asian, I notice for some reason tons of Asian guys/white wives…Not sure why there though.
Good point about HOA benefits. We would probably not be affected by the rules all that much.
And I generally agree about the mixed races not getting a second look. I just wanted opinions from the area. And it seems pretty unanimous that I do not need to be concerned.
ConsideringoptionsParticipant
I’ve lived in Temecula since 2011 without issue. I’m of African descent (black – I hate labels) and my wife is Asian. We have two kids and haven’t had any overt or questionable circumstances regarding race. In fact, most of the kids tend to be very welcoming to my sons. In another generation or two, we may have this race thing licked…at least in SoCal.
One of the things that really stood out to me and wasn’t expecting, the level of wholesomeness and respect that the kids have here. In some cases almost to a fault.
That’s great to hear about respectful kids. And that everyone has been welcoming. Thanks for the feedback π
ConsideringoptionsParticipantThanks for your feedback. Conservative is fine (we lived in central ca for several years) as long as conservative isn’t code for racist. From the feedback I’ve gotten here, most Temecula residents (temeculans?) have no issues with interracial couples.
Edit: And I keep messing up posting. This was in reply to flyerinhi regarding Temecula being conservative.

Unless you are willing to pay whatever it takes for someone else to take care of your pool, it’s not worth having one.
Good to have all these opinions on a pool. I haven’t given it much thought, but will bring it up to my husband.
ConsideringoptionsParticipant
We’re a mexi-jew couple in temecula with mexi-jew kids. No problems in 14 years.
Meadowview is where I wanted to buy but my wife said I was too messy for an HOA. It does look tidy. There’s nowhere quite like it in the area for smaller big lots.
Can walk to chaparral hs. Awesome.
OverallPerfect location IMO.
Thank you for your response. It is great to see a lot of diversity responding. Makes me feel confident my daughter will be in good company π
And I am not super familiar with the area, but I agree the location looked perfect. It is just that HOA that has us hung up. The idea of someone else telling other adults what to do with their property is hard to wrap my head around (full disclosure: we have never been homeowners before).
ConsideringoptionsParticipant
I don’t generally like HOAs, but this makes the one at Meadowview look interesting – and I love the “sheep thrills” pun in the article. http://www.pe.com/articles/sheep-696568-meadow-peterson.html
Try searching for lawsuits that involve the Meadowview Community Association. It will give you an idea of whether people get frustrated with them, and if so, about what.
That’s a good idea. I’ve never lived in a HOA community and am wary of them. We just loved the feel of the neighborhood (which may be because of the very HOA I fear)
ConsideringoptionsParticipant
Thank you! I figured it would be fine, but I definitely want to live somewhere welcoming of various cultures.
We will check out some of the other areas (if there are homes we can afford) and see what we find.
And I see I did this wrong. This was in reply to Harvey π
