You’re right, I am actually against socialist programs. And I had already paid 1/3 of the mortgage that first year. I didn’t need that $7500 interest free loan. But to not utilize it would be just plain stupid.
I vote against big government, and socialist programs every time I vote… and I mean Every time. But I keep losing, and as punishment I’ll just have to take that $7500 and use it in some way that will help prepare my kids to pay back the Huge debt load immorally forced upon them.

BuyerWillEPBParticipantAh, that’s actually not the case Mr. bob’07. When I moved to SD back in ’97 it was my goal and my intention to live there forever. Even back then the cost of living was just a bit out of reach so I decided to go back to the university, get my degree, and THEN I would be able to get a decent home and live there forever… But the housing boom doubled prices, and doubled them again to where I STILL couldn’t afford a decent place even after I got a better job.
So, I had to go to plan B. And so far this plan B is working even better than I expected. Now, I plan to pay off this Kansas house in the next several years, and my hope is that by that time SD prices will be back to below normal, and then buy a second house (or condo, who know’s) back in SD. I came to find out I love Kansas in many ways, haven’t seen any communists living here. π I feel more comfortable that way. And ironically enough, they don’t have many state fiscal problems here either.
I do still love SD in other ways too. I hope to come back some day if CA gets back to what it can be. It really is a small world these days.

“It doesn’t change the fact that you left (which makes us both happier).”
Indeed, I am happier also, because of things like this. But why on earth to you have some personal vendetta against me? I bring a perspective of both tech facts and a hint of history to the table. Did I offend you in some way?
As a side bar, I saw you mention the Che Cafe in your other post. Honestly, (not picking fight here) while I was at UCSD I actually ‘wished’ that I was a woman, or a communist, or black, or muslim… any of those politically correct entities so vociferous on campus. Truly, I actually began to wish that I could ‘sell my soul’ and appreciate these left wing groups. I really do listen to many viewpoints and try to separate the valid from the invalid (affected no doubt by my own biases, just like everyone else). It would have been so much easier for me if I went along… I really did want to fit in and be a part of something. After all that indoctrination, I could only conclude that we would have to agree to disagree. I always find myself going back to the American founders opinions for guidance. Their truths, while not perfect, really were ‘self evident’ and enlightened.
… and no, I wasn’t in Roosevelt college (did that even exist a few years ago? I don’t know that one).
