[That is, I’m assuming that the genetic modification increases yields in some way, shape or form… which means more food… which means less starvation and/or more inexpensive food. Where you stand depends upon where you sit. Again, I have little doubt that folks starving in Africa are up in arms about “Frankenfood” – anything with “food” in it will be an improvement.]
In India, a country no stranger to hunger, farmers have been committing suicide en masse because their farms and livelihoods have been destroyed after switching to GMO crops. Tens of thousands of Indian farmers have killed themselves so far after falling into debts brought on by poor-yielding GMO seeds that must be repurchased each planting season. Prince Charles has been working to bring this horrific situation into the public eye for years, but to little effect in the USA, apparently.
As a side note, Prince Charles has long championed sustainable and organic agriculture practices and even tends his own organic garden.

Maybe the benefit of GMOs is that they will accomplish what natural selection no longer does and thin the tard herd.
This statement is deadly accurate. Unfortunately avoiding GMO foods may not be easy for non-tards unless they move to a very remote location.
Note that there are no GMO seeds going into the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. It is reserved for natural seeds only. What is even more curious is that some of the funding for the vault comes from organizations that are also investing heavily in GMO technology.

Participant
Could someone explain to me how GM food could be bad for us? Are they breeding broccoli with cholesterol now? But seriously…I would rather have a GM plant with less pesticides than an unaltered plant doused in the stuff.
Many GMO foods will have more toxic chemicals on them, not less. For example, herbicide-immune varieties of corn and many grains are designed for no-till farming. This means that rather than till the fields to de-weed them, you just dump shitloads of poisonous herbicide to kill all the weeds but the crop keeps on living. After harvest the herbicide-soaked corn is ready to go into your Doritos. Yum. And of course all of the poisonous herbicide has to go somewhere when it rains, and that is into your rivers and streams.
