blahblahblahParticipant
I was up in Temecula last week and I was dumbfounded by all of the brand new, giant jacked-up monster pickups, behemoth SUVs, shiny new boats and trailers, RVs, BMWs, etc… All being driven by people in their 30s or early 40s, on a Thursday during working hours. It looked to me like there has been a lot of equity “liberated” up there…
November 6, 2006 at 1:26 PM in reply to: 4S Ranch feels like Curry Campground to me. Anyone else? #39311blahblahblahParticipantI don’t get the “Curry” part of your post, what does that mean? The homes are definitely cookie cutter, that’s for sure. They were some of the only entry-level homes available in that part of town for a while, so I’m sure a lot of first time buyers stretched to get into them. That might explain some of the “delayed” maintenance you see. But hey, it’s only a week after halloween. When I was growing up, if we got the Christmas decorations down before Valentine’s Day, we were doing good!
blahblahblahParticipantYes, the policy of not firing indiscriminately is obviously stupid and must be the result of a liberal commie pinko plot. Certainly the Iraqi habit of firing indiscriminately into space has served their military well seeing as how they were never able to defeat the Iranians and we rolled over their asses TWICE in the space of a month each time.
blahblahblahParticipantSorry, I’m obviously a poorly informed idiot. I am humbled by your awesome mastery of politics, military history, and urban warfare tactics; I am shamed by your patently superior patriotism and ideological bent. I beg your forgiveness, PD. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must go to my telescreen. The Two Minutes Hate is about to start!
blahblahblahParticipantHarder, harsher war, PD? I posted about this earlier, come on, get real. No one, I mean no one f***s with the US military. We possess the strongest, most agile, most devastating fighting force on earth. Our annual defense budget surpasses the defense expenditures of all other countries on earth COMBINED. We have lost nearly 3000 and crippled no telling how many soldiers in this war, and trust me, the other side’s casualties are a lot worse. They probably lose 10 for every one we lose. Trust me, our guys aren’t holding back, they’re letting ’em have it with everything they’ve got. When our patrols get fired on, our guys shoot back until the fire stops. And sometimes that means calling for a tank or a Hornet to drop a 500 or 2000 pounder. That’s just how assymetrical urban warfare works, it’s tough, brutal and ugly. Not a John Wayne movie at all. I’m sure there are a lot of guys on this board (some of whom are active duty, I might add) that would like to hear your detailed plans on how to win this conflict. “Getting tough” or “fighting harder” ain’t cutting it. In fact if you told the guys over there sweating in that 120 degree heat that you think they’re fighting “too nicely”, I think you just might get a boot in your ass.
There’s a famous story about a meeting between American and Vietnamese generals at the war’s end. The American general said, “You know, you never beat us in battle.” The Vietnamese general replied, “That is true, but it is also irrelevant.”
blahblahblahParticipantUhhh sorry dude but it’s the other way around…
blahblahblahParticipantCrazed? Shocking? I just watched the entire thing, and Sullivan and Hitchens calmly make their points in a civil manner. Perhaps you disagree with the men, let’s hear your reasoned argument against the points they raise. Don’t simply slander them by calling their statements “shocking” and the men themselves “crazed”.
blahblahblahParticipantJust say “200-250K in 1998 dollars” and you’ll take care of the issue. That’s where we’re headed.
blahblahblahParticipantJES, read the link I posted a few hours ago. Kerry apologized for botching the joke, not for insulting servicemen. No politician as self-serving as John Kerry would ever insult the military, especially not immediately before a crucial election.

Now go turn on your telescreen! The Two Minutes Hate is about to start! Death to Emmanuel Goldstein! BB! BB! BB!
blahblahblahParticipantAAAAAAARRRRGH! Kerry didn’t say that military folks were poorly educated, he simply fumbled his words. ARRRRRGH! I don’t even LIKE John Kerry and here I am wasting my time correcting you people. I’M A F***ING REPUBLICAN and here I am defending the flip-flopping mumblemouthed Senator from Massachusetts. Why do I still visit this site? ARRRRRRGH!
This country is doomed. Go back to watching “American Idol” everyone. Nothing to see here. All is well. Get ready for the Two Minutes Hate this afternoon, I hear it’s going to be a good one!
blahblahblahParticipantLast comment from me and then I think I’m going to have to put in a web filter to keep me off of this site permanently. Kerry left out one word — “us” — from his comments and the right-wing hacks are hanging him out to dry and distracting the rest of us from what the real issues in this election are: the war, immigration, energy independence, taxes, health care, stem cell research, etc… Notice I don’t include gay marriage or flag burning in that list.
Here you go, everyone…

Now back to sleep. Ignorance is strength. War is peace. Freedom is slavery.
blahblahblahParticipantBuyerWillEPB said it all. Rational buyers are going to wait until they can TRULY afford to buy a home, that means 20% down, fixed interest — maybe an 80/10/10 for first-timers. The irrational buyers that have rushed into the market in the past few years will be knocked back out once they regulate against these toxic loans.
blahblahblahParticipantOh, one more thing, let’s quit painting everyone with such a broad brush, shall we? Not all democrats are pampered, brie-eating surrender monkeys, not all republicans are crazed fundamentalist fascists, and not all military folks are perfect. All are people, plain and simple, with strengths, weaknesses, faults, and foibles. Did anyone else see this in the news recently?
blahblahblahParticipantThe official word is that Kerry fumbled what was supposed to be a slam against Dubya. The line was supposed to be something like “…if you don’t study hard you’ll get us stuck in a badly planned war in Iraq”. Make of that what you will, I doubt it’s gonna change anyone’s mind here, but I doubt that a guy who saw combat really wants to slam his fellow soldiers. Of course Kerry’s not really one to be talking about studying hard since his GPA at Yale was every bit as dismal as Dubya’s.
The really important thing to notice is how all of us are now talking about 40 F***ING YEAR OLD MILITARY RECORDS, and whose daddy can beat up whose daddy rather than figuring out what’s really important to vote on in a few days. Of course that’s the plan, to keep us all distracted while they continue to pick our pockets.
Now back to sleep, everyone….
