ParticipantAlong the same lines, I was at the downtown Post Office a few weeks ago and in the line with me was a legal clerk with a HUGE STACK of legal documents to send registered mail, addressed to “ALL UNKNOWN OCCUPANTS”. I was able to see a lot of these as the clerk next to mine handled them, and they were all going to Victorville. My best guess is that these are notices of foreclosure and they’re warning whatever tenants/squatters might be there of the situation…

ParticipantAnd so is the idea that all the elections are rigged so there is no point voting. Yes they can be rigged but in modern times only by a few percent or so.
That’s all they need. They can get every election right at 50/50 through gerrymandering, media control, dirty tricks like caging and removing voting machines from poor areas — the machine rigging is rarely employed and only in critical locations (e.g. certain counties in Ohio 2004 and Florida 2000). Look at all the great candidates that started this campaign: John Edwards, Dennis Kucinich, Ron Paul, Mike Gravel, etc… None of them have made it. The only two they will allow through are the controlled drones McCain and Clinton. Obama looks promising but they are gonna unleash the fear of the great redneck hordes to keep him out. I understand why people will vote for Clinton rather than McCain but I wouldn’t expect much to change one way or another– certainly not your tax burden or the level of “service” you receive from the federal government…

ParticipantYou think the rebate checks are bad now, just wait to see what you’ll be paying for in taxes with a Clinton and/or Obama presidential win. π
There has been no noticeable difference in my taxes during 2000-2008 as compared to 1992-2000. I make more money now so I pay more of course but I haven’t had any tax relief during 8 years of a Republican administration. There is no difference between these two parties. They’re both going to increase taxes to pay for more wars. The only difference I can see is that the Democrats will increase your taxes to pay for poorly planned healthcare and “green” boondoggles, while the Republicans will increase your taxes to pay for poorly planned “homeland security” and bank bailout boondoggles. Take your pick.
The federal elections are all rigged anyway, there is no point in voting. It’s as pointless as voting for politburo representatives in the old USSR.

ParticipantIt might go a little lower, but that still could be a good deal. Check to make sure the HOA is in good shape. Find out what units like that rent for — I’m guessing $1200-1400? Figure out your monthly payment with deduction/etc… and if it’s close to the rent you’re probably not going to regret it long term. Certainly things are heading in the right direction now!
