ParticipantAllow me to end this thread and save us all the time of having to read the many pointless posts that will undoubtedly collect here. I will list all of the points that us piggies would otherwise have to spend our valuable time entering into this little beige box. Okay, here we go.
* She is a liberal dum-dum head that should have known better. This situation is clearly all her fault! Dum-dum! She probably voted for THE ABOMINABLE JOHN EDWARDS in the democratic primary.
* Where is her pension? What about her 401K? Maybe she put it all in Enron stock. Ha ha what a dum-dum head!
* Why doesn’t she have rental income from houses that she purchased using no-down pick-a-pay option ARMs in Vegas or Riverside? If she had done that she would be sitting pretty — oh wait I guess not. Sorry.
* Why didn’t she invest all of her money in dividend-producing stocks when Bush took office? If she had she would be reaping dividend income at a greatly reduced tax rate now! What a dum-dum head. Clearly she deserves to sleep in her car.
* She can always eat those dogs, there is a lot of good meat there. Hey she is better off than lots of people in the world who don’t have dogs to eat!
* Everything will be much better after all of these useless people start moving away from places that people like us enjoy living in. They would be much happier in Des Moines or Tallahassee.

ParticipantI listened to that radio program — completely sickening and pathetic, especially the story of the new college grad making $1M a year moving toxic doo-doo mortgages between poor borrowers and the idiotic MBS/CDO markets. I guess that’s just what happens when a country stops making things.
As for budget deficits, Cheney says that they don’t matter, so don’t worry about it, everything will be allright.

ParticipantGotta agree with you on those points, meadandale.
That said, having more energy-efficient vehicles would be a great benefit to us. We could reduce the amount of money we send to undemocratic countries like Saudi Arabia and developing new technologies would be good for jobs here as well as for exporting products abroad. It would hopefully be good for the environment if we do it right. It really is a no-brainer. Hybrids, electrics, electric flywheel vehicles, there are all kinds of good ideas out there. What is missing is the political will from either party to do anything other than keeping the status quo going.
With regards to Gore, has anyone noticed that all of the proposals to fix the global warming issue are just new taxes and trading schemes? They’re just going to shift fossil fuel consumption from the poor to the rich without doing ANYTHING to reduce the total amount of fuel being burned. It’s almost like they’re trying to starve the third world because they’re worried about overpopulation. If they were really serious, the way to go about reducing fossil fuel use would be to develop smaller villages connected by railways with locally grown food sources and incentives to telecommute or walk or ride a bike to work.
So if you really want to save the environment, start telecommuting or if your job won’t let you, quit it and find one that will! It can really improve your overall quality of life, you’ll be amazed…

ParticipantAlso, has anyone noticed that people are driving slower on the freeways these days? I recently slowed down to the legal speed limit when driving (used to speed — I know it’s bad) and my mileage has improved significantly from 26mpg to 29mpg+. Maybe others are doing the same…
