Participant
According to SDLookup, it says Bonita’s population is 17k. That’s where I got all of the data as well.
Agreed, still checking on recent Chula figures.
“Bedroom” has to do with accessability to urban core and NOT population.
Ex. Temecula, Hemet and Murrietta have HUGE populations but LOOK WHERE THEY ARE! They’re “bedrooms” of RIV County.

Participant
UCGal, I find it funny to call PQ a bedroom community too. It just be a huge bedroom. Total population for PQ is 74k, while total population of Chula Vista/Bonita is is 186k. So PQ is almost 1/2 of all of Chula Vista/Bonita.
Bonita’s pop. is about 32K, CV’s pop. is now over 275K (will check this again).

Participant
Like real estate this is nowhere near as easy as you try to make it out to be. You could divide middle class into alot more than 3 levels. . . . I would not consider them all to be same class. Would you?
No, I would not, sdr, see my post on wealth distribution. It all boils down to size of cash downpayments and terms of purchase.
Conversely, there is the quintessential CV couple in their mid-eighties who drive a 15-yr-old Lexus. (Came over to Ellis Island as children [TRUE].) Have pd. for home in MC/lower-MC area in perfect cond. inside and out as is their car. Too old to travel but active and content. Still LOADED with $$ so as not to be a burden on their children. THERE ARE LOTS OF THESE OWNERS STILL ALIVE IN SD, sdr. “Wealth” has many different faces.

Participant
. . . And I find it funny to call PQ a bedroom community when compared to Chula Vista. . .
PQ = 30+ mi. from Dtn. SD (fwy dependent), CV 91910 = 10-13 mi. from Dtn. SD. (not fwy dependent).
Again, I’m using Dtn. SD as the “core” and the main “jobs center.” This is probably outdated now.
To be frank, 65% of 91910 does not commute to “work” – they work out of their homes, work locally or are retired.
The other zips in Chula are 13-22 mi. from dtn. SD. This is why the heavy commute now on the 5 and 805. Before 2000, there was much less congestion on these freeways.
