ParticipantBuying puts I kept making alot, then losing alot.. it evened out for a while but then I started doing something diff.. What I noticed is that the stocks I was buying were so volatile that before expiration I could expect to be up and down a few times, but the pattern was that I always was up at some point… so now, I sell a % of the puts that is 1/2 the gain. So if the puts are up 100% for the day, I sell half of my puts.. it’s hard to do esp with homebuilders and mortgage because it feels like ”this is it, it’s crashing now!” but take what you can get. 100-200% a few times really adds up obviously. Also, if I buy within a month of expiration it’s a 1 or 2 day trade for me, any longer and exit window just becomes too small. If you’re holding out of the money in that last week before expiration, you’re more than likely becoming the ~90% of options expire worthless guys.

ParticipantI made 500% in 4 months in Adelanto. Bought 2 acres held for 4 months and sold.. I wouldn’t do it again unless I found a FSBO from someone who has had the land a long time, otherwise you’re probably buying from a flipper who will tell you all about why it’s going to appreciate…

i bought back some of my puts this morning on the early hop for an easy 30%, if you’re on the sidelines try it out tomorrow with your loose change.

ParticipantRE foreclosure – I like the growth opportunity for storage companies… problem is most have fairly high valuations already, and most private already have quite a bit of capital given that most storage companies serve as dual purpose commercial real estate investors. See ticker PSA.

ParticipantI believe that CFC is on the high speed train down to 20 but we’ll see what kind of bandaid the bulls try to put over the obviously ailing market tomorrow.
Yeah we shall see.. I’m thinking there will be a ‘everythings OK’ kind of movement tomorrow +1-3% which I will short into with Jan 08s… I guess that it’s going to see $15-20 by January.

That’s when I bought as well.. I had a bunch of Jan 08’s but I wanted more volatility since I thought earnings were going to be bad. I sold half this morning for +165% and the other half just before the close managed to get just above 200% @ $3.50 or .10c below the high.
I’m thinking tomorrow we might see a 2-3% jump, and at that point I’m looking to get back into some Jan 32 or maybe even 25s!
Keep an eye on the KBH puts too.. I bought some 20s quite a bit out of the money, and they’re up just a little over 100% in the last 3 trading days.
