ParticipantI have a Dell desktop that has worked excellent for going on 5 years now. It was an incredible deal ~750 for a 2.8ghz Dual Core with 256 video card and a 24″ UltraSharp… that was back when the 24″ were going for $800 alone!
But for laptops I haven’t had good experience with Dell.. stuff is always falling apart on them and the batteries would always go out quick on me.
For laptops check out HP. You can have a look at them @ Frys.

ParticipantIs there really a diff between 6000, 4000 and 1000. Citibank is a penny stock now.. why would anything stop sliding when there is not much spending and the very dollar itself will probably be threatened. I won’t be buying. You think any sort of restructuring in these companies is going to consider the shareholders? I’ve had my shares in companies go to zero and there was really no explanation, in fact they are trading again today without me π

I’m sorry. You know the industry is moving anti MSFT.
Java is saturated as well. There’s a few Ruby type stuff available in orange county. Also, stuff picking up with Cocoa.
I know that’s tough medicine to swallow, but finding enterprise .net stuff is going to be uphill.[/quote]
I’m not so sure about that.. I know it’s popular to hate on MSFT right now and all this LAMP hype.. but I haven’t seen any particularly good jobs in those areas either.
.NET is no where close to going away.. the only companies using Java IMO are the ones that are stuck with it. c# vs Java isn’t even really fair.
