ParticipantTG: Wow. That’s ugly. You shed $300k in value from spring ’07 to now.
Not to sound snotty, but that’s the top of the line McMillin? It’s definitely big, but it doesn’t really seem all that different from a lot of other builder’s homes and models in the area.
Got any extra money to lay off on the Chargers this weekend? Kidding.

ParticipantDuke: Desperate times call for desperate measures. What next, the dude in the Rolls pilfering Grey Poupon?
All kidding aside, I doubt very much this will be the last we see of this sort of thing. Various insurers have expressed concern over an anticipated wave of arsons, as homeowners find themselves without options and decide to torch the McMansion instead.
Welcome to the new reality.

ParticipantSDR: If I have to choose Kiffin’s, I’ll take Monte, please. I agree with you (mostly), but it has been a long, slow death since Gruden left. I personally feel like the Raiders (read Al Davis) lost their way after the Marcus Allen debacle. That really showed not only a lack of class (I know, surprising for the Raiders to use that word), but a real lack of vision.
I was in high school in ’82 when that SD – Miami game took place, and I can still picture Kellen Winslow being carried off the field following. We won the CCS (NorCal version of the CIF) the following year, and our coach used that game to drive home the point about persistence and triumphing over adversity. Probably the greatest pro game ever, in my opinion.
The best part of this is seeing Norv Turner come out on top. It might sound strange, especially from a Raiders fan, but this guy has endured so many cracks, and put-downs, and now this. All of that is pretty much swept aside following these last two games. Imagine if the Chargers beat NE! I might even start feeding a little blue and gold into my wardrobe.
Kidding.

ParticipantTG: I was waiting for you to weigh in on this. As a Raiders fan, I am spitting nails. What further proof does Al Davis need that his management style and control freak nature have destroyed that once-proud franchise?
I agree with everything you said (and might have actually said it myself in my earlier post). They went into one of the toughest situations imaginable and prevailed. For the record, I think Indy had NE earlier in the season, and just blew that game late. Granted, the Chargers are very outgunned and outmanned heading into Foxboro, but this is football and anything can happen. Watch out when a team starts believing in themselves. I make my players watch the OU – Boise State bowl game as an example.
When you talk about David versus Goliath – well, you always gotta remember how that turned out for Goliath.
I’ll stop short of saying “Go Bolts”, because I think that violates my membership in the Silver and Black Club, but great effort from a helluva team.
