Participantjustme: I’m curious as to where your “facts” came from.
Specifically, the statement that Dubya spent more money on killing people than any President since Nixon. I was under the impression that LBJ, a Democrat, holds that dubious distinction. The Vietnam War reached its peak under LBJ, and wartime spending (on a percentage of GNP/GDP basis) was the highest in our history, only exceeded by WWII.
Also, Clinton was far more interventionist than Dubya. Look at Somalia, Haiti, Kosovo, etc. And his posturing over Iraq was more than mere saber rattling. He expended more munitions (and money) on Iraq than Bush I did. There are dozens of examples of not only his rhetoric regarding Iraqi regime change (like the Iraqi Liberation Act), but those of Sandy Berger, Albright, Hillary, etc. Amnesty International estimated that some 500,000 Iraqis died as a result of US sanctions and bombings during the Clinton Administration. Operation Desert Fox (approved by Clinton) dropped more raw tonnage of munitions on Iraq during the last two years of his administration than the US dropped on Germany during all of WWII.
I wouldn’t be tossing terms like contorted logic out there, when your particular logic appears to have no factual supports.

ParticipantLA_Renter: I don’t know about you, but as a conservative myself I am hard pressed to identify Dubya as a conservative (in the true Goldwater sense of the word). He is the worst of all possible worlds: A Tax & Spend Republican.
As much grief as I’d like to give Bill Clinton for his time in the Presidency, he did manage to balance the budget and create something of a surplus. Admittedly, this was ginned up somewhat by the Dot.conomy and playing around with Social Security, but we weren’t confronting the massive deficits and trade imbalances we have at present.
I worry about Obama’s lack of experience, his willingness to kowtow to the hard Left, and a liberal Democrat’s tendencies to “socialize” various problems with expensive and ineffective programs.

ParticipantCA renter: Have you seen the statistics on the absolute explosion of consumer debt since 1980? It is staggering.
The American consumer is 70% of the economy, and has been papering over the lack of real wages with debt for the last 25 years. When Joe Sixpack finally wheezes to a stop, it’s gonna be ugly.
My grandparents on my Mom’s side lived through the Great Depression and I will never forget what a huge impact it had on them. Even after the prosperity of the war years and the 1950s changed their standard of living, they still remembered and were always careful not to live above their means. There are some hard lessons coming.

ParticipantEx-SD: I averred from posting on this thread due to the fact it got hijacked into a diatribe on Race in America.
You’ll note that any hard questioning of Obama’s motives, history or religiosity is immediately challenged as racist.
Geraldine Ferraro was mentioned on this thread, along with the imprecation that her quotes and comments on Obama were “sickening”. Really? They were sickening? She brought up what I considered some valid points, and gets accused of race baiting, and then is forcibly ejected from the Clinton campaign.
I’m with you. I could care less about Obama’s ethnicity. I am curious about his voting record, and his relationship with Tony Rezko, and his emergence from the Chicago Democratic Machine and where those particular bodies (figuratively speaking) are buried.
