Participantsurveyor: In fairness, I think denoting the thread with a big “OT” would help also. Yeah, the title should be a dead giveaway, but in case it isn’t…
The word “shallow” in qwerty’s post also caught my eye. With the exception of some ad hominen pisstivity, that thread was one of the best, most entertaining and informative posts that’s been here in a while.
As you pointed out, and much like TV, if you don’t like it, don’t watch. Exercise your right to not participate, but allow the rest of those who want to to do so.

ParticipantAecetia: Would you quit with the boomer thing already?!? Please. I don’t want to embrace my inner boomer. I don’t have an inner boomer, alright?
I wouldn’t mind driving the Volvo, though. Without the PBS license plate holder, of course.
Don’t you have someone else you should be tormenting? Children, perhaps? An elderly and somewhat helpless neighbor?

ParticipantAecetia: Geez, what did I ever do to you? “You really act like a boomer”?!? Argh! It was the Volvo comment, wasn’t it? I knew it!
Yup, this has been a fun thread and there are some really sharp folks out there participating.
I think Reagan recognized the threat of the Religious Right even more than Goldwater because it had begun infiltrating the Republican Party during the late 1970s and early 1980s. By the time Dubya was in power, the Religious Right and the Republican Party had become indistinguishable from one another. I had hopes that McCain would follow through on his “crusade” to break their hold, but after he showed up at Libery University and starting kissing butt, well, that hope faded fast.
Act like a boomer. Sheesh.
