ParticipantMarion (lakehouse): Canada’s system is indeed far from perfect as even a little bit of research will show.
Greed has nothing to do with it. That’s the typical rhetoric one would expect from someone of your ilk. I want to keep as much as I earn and there is nothing wrong or “greedy” about it. You show me one social entitlement program that’s worked, including farm subsidies and corporate welfare (to be fair to both sides), and I’ll enthusiastically sign up.
And I don’t see the election so much as a sweeping endorsement of Obama than a repudiation of Bush’s tenure and policies.
Your attempt on another thread to “whitewash” (sorry, the only term that really worked) Rev. Wright is another example of rhetoric and polemic running wild, while obscuring the fact that the Dems offer nothing new and haven’t since 1968.
Instead of dealing with the problems and solutions, instead you’ll just do your usual flinging of invective, vitriol and ignorance. I’m sure that if I were black, I’d be an Uncle Tom in your book, too.

Participantlakehouse: Would that be the Constitutionally guaranteed National Health Care System?
The Federal government is responsible for the “three C’s”: Commerce, Communications and the Common Defense. Other than that, they need to stay the hell out of our affairs.
As far as the overarching system of entitlements you want and increasing taxes to pay for them, well, that’s the “uncool” part.
Brutus isn’t selfish at all. He’s simply wanting to keep more of what he has worked hard to make. Remember, tax evasion is a crime, but tax avoidance is a Constitutionally guaranteed right. Unlike your national health care system. You should move to Sweden, where they’ve done a fabulous job with cradle to grave social entitlements. You’d stand out a bit, but you’d get used to it after a while.
