I’m first generation American, and my grandma left Germany in 1935 with my dad and uncle and to escape just this sort of thing, so this hits home for me. People like this revolt me and, largely because, in their life at large, they hold to being good Christians and accepting of others.
Imagine their reaction if the group home had been for underprivileged black kids. They might have seethed privately, but you can bet your ass they wouldn’t have said a friggin’ word publicly!
