ParticipantActually, if we could put our tax money towards the private school of our choice (voucher), we would get a better product and the price would go down. Public schools are a total waste of money and are turning out poorly educated people. Watch Jay (Leno) walking for examples. I am sure he picks the worst to showcase, but for God’s sake, some of the people he interviews are supposed to be teachers. All the bond money has not improved the infrastructure that much either.
As for GM and the banks, they should have been allowed to fail. I guess if Congress did not have so much invested in them, they would have let them fail. Drain the swamp; all of it.

ParticipantI agree Patentguy, but wait until Big Pharma takes over pot and really makes stuff expensive. Then we get the FDA involved and an endless parade of laws, bureaucracies to inspect your pot growing for bugs, pesticides, fertilizers, is it organic enough to be labeled organic. You think any business is easy in this State. Think again. Yes, the drug war failed, but I do not see this law as making things that much better, just that much more complicated for everyone involved. I have doubts about the State. Everything they touch, they ruin. Look at Bazaar del Mundo. That place used to make the State a fortune and they totally screwed that up by leasing it to some other big corporation from out-of-State, that destroyed Old Town, lost money and eventually left the building. All I am saying is be careful what you wish for.

ParticipantI don’t think the State will make any money on taxes if it passes because there will be more “growers”. These folks will probably be the victims of crime when their crop is harvested by home invasions robbers and crimes associated with drug rip-offs will go up. At this time, because it is illegal, these crimes are generally not reported. I think legalizing it will just bring it out into the open.
Also, even if the voters do legalize it, the Feds have not, so that makes an entire new set of problems. Some of the narcotics teams are mixtures of State, locals and Feds. So who enforces what? I am just pointing out some of the problems down the line with this issue. As you all know this State has had propositions approved by a majority of voters and overturned by judges. I am not trying to start a flame war here, I am pretty ambivalent about the entire matter and do think money could be spend better than on some bogus drug war. The war is real, it is the way we chose to fight it.
