ParticipantIt is not a standard house and we have computers and other things plugged in and running. In the summer the average bill has been 600. It drops down to the high threes and we use the fireplace instead of heat a lot of the time. It is not a condo. It is a house. I do not care if you believe me or not. You choose your life style and I choose mine, but the savings will be substantial. I do not want to be charged to put lines in in PB or somewhere else. Where I live they are already underground. I think SDG&E has been spreading the wealth for years. Why are you picking on me for going green? The sun is free except for the cost of the panels. The only issue I see is if a lot of people install solar, the energy vampire will raise the rates on the rest (which they have been doing consistently). I plan to use a lot of Christmas lights this year, but they will be LED’s of course! Why can’t you be happy for me Brian?

ParticipantI agree, but people who are opposed to it should not pay the bill for it. Let charities take up the slack. There must be some liberal charities somewhere… in San Fransisco perhaps?

ParticipantWe just bought personal solar (roof system). It should save a minimum of 300. per month from the electric bill and if it produces more than we use, then SDG&E will have to pay us (deduction from bill). Also, the components did not come from China. Some of the issues that held us back in the past were the cost, ugly looking, and that the excess electric went to the company. Now that most of that has changed we went for it. Still a lot of money, but I think our bill started going up about 6% a year even with a lot of conservation. Once you bump up into a higher tier, it never gets better. When I see the dials spinning backwards I am going to yell FREEDOM (just like Braveheart)!
