LOL – my house in PA had been updated from it’s original roots (built 1900ish)… to avocado green and harvest gold. And yes – flourescent lights. I did choose to remove the horrible lime green and neon orange “farm scene” wallpaper that had been added circa 1975… but those appliances were kept till they died. The dishwasher was still there when I sold. (Although I’d switched the cover to one of the alternate colors – ivory. You could take apart the door and find changeable front panels: harvest gold, avocado green, cocoa brown, and ivory.)

eavesdropper, I have that exact same light in my circa 1993 kitchen today, lol!

Lol, UCGal, my mom chose the “farm scene” wallpaper and I had to do the papering. Had to make sure each corner of her “farm-sized” 11’x22′ kitchen was properly plumb-bobbed, or the cows’ udders, chicken heads and rooster craws would run north, straight up the wall! I did the bottom half of her kitchen wall in coordinating stripes to match her 7 pc. vinyl dinette set!

You referred to “cocoa brown” and “ivory” panels. The PROPER TERMS were “coppertone” and “almond.” I remember the switchable panels on my mom’s kitchenaid d/w. Get with it, UCGal! Coppertone was the name of the game in 1974.

Flu is correct in that those s/s frigs lasted “forever” but I have replaced three compressors in my lifetime, I think. We finally replaced the avocado green “Coldspot” with a newfangled “almond Frigidaire” circa 1981! It had “leather-look” trim on the doors and was HOT!!

H@ll, I still have a harvest gold 5-spd Osterizer blender (w/all the attachments) and red brick “Crockpot” that run like champs!!
