A personal note on Wine Steals. I used to go their when they first opened every week or so. In the last year though the prices have risen and the quality of the wine has declined significantly. This is directly attributable to it becoming a “scene.”
I’m all for running a profitable business, but when you scare off the winos in favor of upping profit margins you are now dependent on a much more fickle crowd for your business. They used to have good wine at competitive prices, now not so much.
I still like to go their occasionally with co-workers. It is a scene and there are pretty girls to leer at; Not so much for the wine.

Here is a monster deal if you can find it. The 2005 Columbia Crest Reserve Cabernet just got 95 pts from WS but it hasnt been published yet. It is spectacular and could have been a Top 10 wine in their annual top 100 list if it came out earlier. I just picked up a case at the Wine Co. in Santa Anna. It was $24/bottle. Run….don’t walk if you can find it.sdr
