It’s got that zip code that tells everyone that you’ve arrived and – like Navin Johnson – now you are someone.
It used to be a reasonably priced neighborhood in La Jolla. The elementary school is top notch, so it became the move up neighborhood for PB families. There are some great streets and some great houses in Birdrock, but a lot of late to the game yuppies got suckered into the tiny homes on tiny lots on very busy narrow streets. Imagine paying $1.2M for a 1,000 sqft 2/1.5 on a 4,500 sqft lot.
I can’t comment on Birdrock without taking a jab at the Seahaus condo complex… is the epitome of the ultra late to the party S U C K E R S!!! What the hell were those people thinking? Anyone have any recent sales that show the soon to get worse losses?
I have a totally different take on Seahaus. I regret not jumping on these when they were first being built. My father was out here and I could have probably gone in on the town homes to the back of seahaus for around 650 to 700. Interest rates on 30 year fixed at the time were around 5%.
I am fairly confident that I not only would be in a comfortable equity possiton today but that I could have easly rode out any downturn. I could see traffic being a Problem but that area is great for Ocean lovers.
