I like to think I played a key part in running powayseller off the site, but I’m just kidding myself. She did that all on her own…
I shouldn’t joke though. It was really a shame that it happened and it’s sad to see someone put themselves in that position. We’ve probably all been there, you just keep digging the hole deeper and deeper… At least I know I have.
I think she has a lot to offer and that she’s really a good person. I just think this site became too big a part of her life. The lure of web celebrity is a powerful one. I certainly hope she’s happy now.
Myself, I went away for a while. I love this site and am often fascinated, amused, sickened and educated by what I find here. Oh, and I flat out love Rich’s writing style!
But, I was just spending too much time and/or had too much going on in my life. So I went from reading every single post on every single thread (see, too much), to letting the yellow envelopes pile up.
But now, I’m back reading the threads that catch my interest and posting occasionally. Unfortunately, I have a tendency to mostly call people out when I think they’ve got some tidbit wrong or at least differ with my particular world view, typically with just a wee bit of sarcasm thrown in. Probably not my most endearing trait, but since I don’t let it phase me when it comes my way, I tell myself “it’s okay.”
Anyhoo, sorry to ramble, but I do enjoy a lot of the folk who have passed through here and those that are still here, so I just wanted to pop my head up.

No offense of course , but isn’t it insane to invite people from the internet to your home?Breaking things is not a problem because it all comes from craig’s list anyway.

December 8, 2007 at 10:47 AM #111909Allan from FallbrookParticipantRustico and sdrealtor: Thanks for the compliments, sincerely.
sdr: As far as those Raiders victories being bittersweet, I can’t disagree. We’ve doubled our win total from last year, but we are going to forgo certain opportunities in the draft. However, if recent and past history are any indicators, we aren’t really going to do much with the picks once we get them. Robert Gallery ringing any bells?
Someone mentioned ScruffyDog. I really would like to get his take (again, sincerely) on what is going on the RE market. He seemed an intelligent guy, if somewhat propagandistic on the subject of RE as an investment. He took a pretty good thumping back there, and seems to have vanished.
I want to give a shout out to TG. A man fond of his spirits, the womenfolk, and always robust in his defense of Temecula. While us Fallbrook types tend to get a little snotty about Temecula, I don’t know where I’d be without my occasional breakfasts at The Swing Inn.

December 8, 2007 at 4:19 PM #111994Chris Scoreboard JohnstonParticipantThanks 4plex, I do not even recall your shot at me about Green Acres, so no harm no foul. I mostly decided I just did not want to wait 5 for more years to re-enter. All my animals and everything are just too difficult to manage without a place like this.
Interesting that you have an automated emini system through Trade Station. In spite of the RE crash, I have no regrets about buying this place, I bought it for $100,000 under the replacement cost of the structures alone, so I got the 5 acres with ocean view for free, so I am content at my entry price. I will live here forever most likely.
Your long term view on Gold has been right on, I am a short term trader, so more often than not we will probably be on opposite sides of the market and could both be right at the same time.
I think the blog in general has gotten less negative, which is why I am participating again. Most people who trade have strong views on things, so it is inevitable that we will disagree on things at times. This is one of the reasons I often state, I could be wrong, because it is the truth.
