What if, we all had to do a term in government? Ie like the military draft, where all adults must serve 4 years in government?
Would that be democratic?

ParticipantBuy Nothing Day is the day after Thanksgiving. I’ve been a participant for the last 5 years. It’s awesome to stay in, do a puzzle with friends, read a book, go on a hike etc. rather than try and face the crowds at the mall.
More and more I’m hearing stories of people opting out of the commercial xmas also. This is the 4th year my family is not exchanging gifts. A little hard if you have little kids, but not if everyone’s grown. Don’t we all have enough stuff?
