ParticipantSome of Ayn Rand’s observations are pure genius, in my view. Others are suspect, to be polite. On the whole, her “philosophy,” taken to its logical conclusion, is unworkable in the real world. But that doesn’t mean she didn’t have some brilliant insights. Lord Keynes also had some brilliant insights… but his philosophy has a few holes as well. Personally, I don’t vilify someone’s entire body of work merely because parts of it are a little loony.

I see who’s frothing at the mouth. Having taken the oath several times in my life to protect and defend the constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic, I take umbrage with those who seek to destroy the foundational principles of our nation for mere do-gooding. If the plight of the poor vexes you, vote with your checkbook, but leave your neighbor’s be.
This attitude always makes me laugh. Do you use public roads? bridges? Did you take advantage of any state-funded education? If you’ve taken an oath to defend the constitution, I suppose that you’ve received pay directly from the government? Who do you expect to pay the salaries of those who are doing now what you used to do?
I can see why you are such a fan of Ayn Rand as you clearly live in a fantasy world where everyone else is responsible for paying for the cost you extol on the world.
Yet more vilification from the sock based on reductio ad absurdum. Rich really should unmask these posers.

GuestAyn Rand was also a very sexually liberated woman, not exactly in the religious ideals of today’s Republicans.
Dave put it well. She was an intellectual and a little eccentric but she had some great ideas.
Of the two major parties, Democratic or Republican, I find find the Democratic party more suitable to me because the Democrats are more flexible in terms of lifestyles and morals. The Republicans are simply too rigid.
I admire Ayn Rand because she was blunt and spoke her mind.
Interesting interview about Ayn Rand:
