If you think humans should not be held to a higher standard I wouldn’t want to be your neighbour.
I hold my dog to a higher standard than a serial killer or pedophile. Guess we cannot be neighbours then?
Barry, my statement reflected my belief that a rat behaves without guilt. I do not believe humans do, or should, live this way.
In response to WW’s befuddlement at some of the responses here, I have more sympathy for the innocent being punished than the guilty. I doubt I’m alone, though I’m not sure most people would take the time in their busy lives to break it down like that, however. Then again, Kant fans might…

Ah, I see. Must have misunderstood it then.
WW’s confusion seems to stem from that fact that he doesn’t care that the animals he traps suffers… or worse, wants to. I don’t really see the point of making a rat suffer as much as possible when death can be more swifter/humane. It’d be like a hunter missing his shot, hitting the animal’s leg and not being decent enough to put it out of its misery, just intentionally leaving it there to expire.
Were it up to me, I’d ban glue traps outright. The entire concept of them is quite sickening to me… I mean, gluing a small mammal on plastic for it to panic and rip itself apart/starve/etc. Ugh.
