Or here if denied your freedom of speech:
Politely ask Jeff Bridges to support the country that helped make him famous and drop the Hyundai ads.
HIE-YUN-DIE ~ Hyundai does NOT rhyme with Sunday in blue-collar America
I agree with the CEO of NUCOR when he says that free trade is a joke. There IS no free trade and we should require “equitable” trade or fair trade.
When foreign countries have access to our market and compete against American companies the foreign companies should be forced to manufacture their products under the same rules our companies have to in order for it to be fair trade.
The concern for the environment and workers rights under the EPA, NLRB, FLSA, and the FLRA are considerations that should be taken into account as well as government subsidies BEFORE any “Free Trade Agreement” is signed into law.
We can’t compete with these foreign companies who pollute the environment and pay wages far below what is the law here! It is not protectionism to demand fair trade.

July 18, 2009 at 7:36 AM #433264paddyohParticipant
Flu you are a walking contradiction. What kind of tiny mind would bring racism into this? Talk about hated for a whole subset of humanity for ignorant reasons, what about your hate for UAW workers? What does FLU stand for again?
I bet Korean UAW works would love your stupid site. Talk about irrational hatred; you vehemently hate another group of people, a group you live a 1000 miles from and have probably never laid eyes on or spoke with. Hate mongering, pea brained loser.
For all of you who keep asking: Why Hyundai? Why Jeff Bridges’ commercials?
Those commercials are a resounding success and they are helping Hyundai gain market share while GM loses share. Korea is selling more Korean built cars in the US even in this downturn, than they did last year, while US companies are selling less. American Jobs are being lost because of this, and our deficits continue to worsen because of this. Simple.
Great article on the Hyundai ads:
http://www.adweek.com/aw/content_display/news/strategy/e3i965b4d32129d971f614e746ae7e0e326Paddyho has a valid point. Why all the haters? Paddyho is just trying to shine a light on American unemployment, what have you lame haters done for the country in this mess?
Most Hyundais sold here are made in Korea and the profits go to Korea to help Koreans. Those same profits leave America where they could have helped Americans and our giant deficits.
Korea is using this crisis to go for the jugular. I can’t prove it but I bet they are losing money on many of the cars they sell here. But they see the bigger picture and like Japan, (famous for dumping before them); they have their eyes on the prize, while our Gov. pretends our brand of “free trade” is fair trade (it’s clearly NOT).
Get a clue people and try and learn the difference between fair trade and free trade, predatory trade and charity trade.
Rt.66:
I just got around to reading that Hyundai (HIE-YUN-DIE) article. Sorry, the “short thinkers” here have been keeping me nice and busy. 🙂
This is pretty much part of what I’ve been saying here right along.
To quote Yogi Berra, “It’s like déjà vu all over again” !
The Koreans are doing exactly what the Japanese did so cleverly 40 years ago.
( Disclaimer: I don’t have anything personal against any ethnic group)
Now, 40 years later, here we are debating the nuances of the UAW, American blue collar workers, etc, etc, etc…
And Hyundai, Kia, etc, etc, are slowly but silently stealing our market share on a skewed playing field. AGAIN !
Good folks, act quickly, before we have no indigenous industries left in the USA.
Go here NOW and help nip this stealth bombing of the American auto industry in the bud:

It’s not protectionism, or isolationism, or socialism, etc, etc.
It’s just plain old common sense.
Ignore the nay-sayers. The clock is ticking.
