Thinking of investing in DNA sequencing

What stocks best represent the DNA sequencing business? I think Roche makes a lot of the big equipment, any other big players out there?

Hmmm, regarding sequencing equipment, I usually hear Illumina mentioned.

Apart from Illumina (NASDAQ: ILMN) other leading companies in the industry include Life Technologies (NASDAQ: LIFE) and Affymetrix (NASDAQ: AFFX). These are big names of the DNA sequencing business however don’t go blindly by the names. I’d suggest do your research and draw your own conclusion about investing.

If you want to invest (or do some research on the companies) locally, Life Technologies is a local company located in Carlsbad. They’ve been growing and hiring quite a bit from what I’ve heard.
