Actually, a few recent and very interesting scientific studies contend there is some form of consciousness after death.
Regardless of who is “right” or “wrong” in their assumptions–religious or otherwise–we all know for certain–beyond a shadow of a doubt–that, like it or not, our lives on earth eventually come to an end, so enjoy it all while you can.

matthew 25
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.

Monotheistic and intolerant religions are far more authoritarian in their doctrine and structure, people find it easier to just lean on these all powerful creations, at the same time, these religions can therefore inspire much stronger desire to prophecize and if met with resistance, the use of force to impose their deity on as many as possible.
Polytheistic religions are by nature more tolerant and thus more democratic. Theme of self reliance on meditative practices is stronger compared to leaning on power of a creator being. The desire to prophecize is thus less urgent nor the need to use force to impose belief.
Is it any surprise that the world is now mostly divided between two of the strongest monotheistic religions that are also the least tolerant. Is it also surprising that these two religions would continue to inspire hate and violence in their names?
April 24, 2019 at 9:27 AM #812376FlyerInHiGuestIf I said I believe in Jesus people would welcome and applaud me.
If I said I believe in a green sea creature as god, people would call me crazy.
It’s supposed to be feed the hungry, visit the prisoner and welcome the stranger.
I am sponsoring a refugee family but I jusf give them a place to live while they adjust. Not too much effort on my part. Yet American evangelicals who claim to be godly are angry about those of us who give comfort to strangers/immigrants. Totally deplorable.

maybe marx would rewrite it today with zoloft for opium.

Now there’s religious dogma!
April 24, 2019 at 4:17 PM #812382outtamojoParticipant
Religion was a very necessary human creation that helped us as we moved from hunters and gatherers to an agrarian society and beyond. I find all religions were created and centered along the line of some form of mediative practice to help one deal with human suffering and also to aid in the need to explain the unexplainable.
Religions are the Proza and Zoloft and Lexapro of human societies before the advent of modern psychology and psychiatric practices. Unfortunately some folks are so into their “brand” of “SSRI” that they find the need to pray for others on other brands of “SSRI.”
Would recommend all to read the following book, it was quite enlightening:

this sounds like zero fun.
Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.
Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!” (Mark 10:21-23).
and jesus said to the piggingtonians, worry not about the earnings of next quarter or the academic pedigrees of thy children, the size of your deals or your refinance rates. look at the california poppies, they dont worry much nor do they take prozac, and yet trump in all his glory never had a tie so finely colored. truly i say, abandon this stupid website and stop thinking about monry. scaredy 21:15.
maybe piggington is…h. e. l. l

and one man replied, “Never do we worry about earthly things, since we know our limitless blessings flow without concern or prozac so we may admire the glory and the beauty of the california poppies (and occasional redwood) now and for all eternity.”
