I agree with you, Russell.
But why do we have the Republicans in Congress and the conservative talk-jocks feigning outrage over the bailouts when their voters (the middle class and business class voters who really matter) want the bailouts and more of them?
I believe that the Republicans are not flexible enough with their moral, small-government, no-spending dogma. Their actions don’t reflect their beliefs.
I have a Republican friend who a little dogmatic but, yet, when we talk about real estate, he would point to the $8,000 credit as a good sign that things are improving and saving the value of his house.
It’s getting pretty hard to avoid being a recipient of welfare in some form, in all walks of life.In my house we get deductions for kids and for a mortgage. Of course some fight harder to get it, sometimes lots of it, and deny what it is. I can’t say I feel safe generalizing who the biggest welfare queens are by party affiliation. It seems pretty evenly spread.
