Interesting article at Slate: http://www.slate.com/id/2147256/ about the recent disapointing results from Starbucks, Whole Foods, P.F. Chang’s, and other bastions of yuppie discretionary spending. Hmmmm, could this have anything to do with the end of rising home prices? Naw……

Dissapointing results can also mean that growth has slowed. Maybe they’re running out of places to put Starbucks. The Onion saw this coming 10 years ago.

reminds me of a proverb “People confuse the high cost of living with the cost of high living”

I’m down to about one Starbucks a week, and there is one two blocks from my house! I’ve noticed the lines are much shorter lately. I don’t know if Starbucks does more or less business in Summer, but I would have thought more because of people coming in for cold drinks later in the day after their warm drinks in the morning.
