The remaining 50% work for the bloated gov’t with their bloated salaries and benefits/pensions with really nothing to worry about.
If you think the govt jobs are safe, you’re going to be shocked by what’s coming in the next 6-24 months, IMHO.

Even stuff like switches for example can be had for about 50% cheaper online compare to HD. Even after shipping cost, it’s still 30-40% cheaper if you buy in bulk.
With that said, I do spend a lot of time and $ @ HD in the last month. It’s amazing how fast it adds up.

If unemployment is 10% that means employment is 90%. Sales can be down but for the guy still making the few sales that are out there they are up.
A balanced view of reality is the key.
We have been on the hunt for a rental property, I can tell you the realtors who deal with foreclosures in the T.V. are swamped, whenever we are on the road looking (on the weekend anyway) the agent hardly ever needs to unlock the lockbox, we just follow the agent and group ahead of us then hand the keys to the next agent coming in.
In the realtors office there is constant traffic in and out and we usually need to wait for a free conference room to write offers etc…Of course these people are probably doing the same thing we are so they are definitely looking to get a steal of a deal or walk, (not easy work being an agent in this environment).
Besides on Kogo this morning the lady who talks to the Archangel Michael said the economy is supposed to recover in 2009.
OK OK I will shut up now…February 3, 2009 at 7:57 AM #340700Nor-LA-SD-guyParticipant
Things are as bad as we are being led to beleive however many of us extrapolate things beyond the reality.
